Virtual Gathering of Artists to Highlight Reiman Gardens’ RG Express

The Ames Community Arts Council’s December Gathering of Artists will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, December 15 from 6 – 8 p.m., and will feature Reiman Gardens’ RG Express holiday train. This event is free and open to everyone.

Reiman Gardens’ Education Specialist Jacqueline Venner Senske will offer a special behind-the-scenes look at this custom-built garden-scale (g-scale) train, featuring miniature buildings and bridges historically significant to Iowa State University and local history, rendered with clever use of natural materials and accented with a spectacular waterfall. This remarkably detailed display was created by Applied Imagination, an internationally recognized company whose train displays meld botanical design and architecture.

The evening will include a short presentation and a chance for discussion. Artists and art enthusiasts of all types are invited to learn about a local art offering and enjoy each other’s virtual company. The Gatherings are always free and open to all. Please join us in this online format until we are once again able to gather together in person.

Participants will need to pre-register for the event to attend. Please visit our website [] or email for registration information.

The Gathering of Artists is hosted by the Ames Community Arts Council and made possible with the support of the City of Ames Commission on the Arts. If you would like more information about participating in or hosting a gathering, please contact the Ames Community Arts Council by e-mailing, visiting the website at, or calling 515-259-0494.
