The Ames Community Arts Council’s April Gathering of Artists will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, April 13 at 6 p.m., and will feature visual artist Jennifer Drinkwater. This event is free and open to everyone.
Jennifer Drinkwater is an Assistant Professor at Iowa State University, with a joint appointment between the department of art and visual culture and Iowa State University extension and outreach. As an artist, Jennifer explores how to move art from the studio into the world, and how art-making can build and shape community. Over the years, Jennifer has organized numerous community-wide events, from yarn-bombing to murals and so much in between. One of her most recent endeavors is the The What’s Good Project. This project attempts to shift the focus from what might be going wrong to instead what is going right, and celebrates meaningful stories from where we live.
Artists and art enthusiasts of all types are invited to learn about a local artist and enjoy each other’s virtual company. Join us in this online format until we are once again able to gather together in person.
The Gathering of Artists is hosted by the Ames Community Arts Council and made possible with the support of the City of Ames Commission on the Arts. If you would like more information about participating in or hosting a gathering, please contact the Ames Community Arts Council by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org, visiting the website at www.amesart.org, or calling 515-259-0494.
