USA TRACK & FIELD MASTERS OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO AMES AND IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

USA TRACK & FIELD MASTERS OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO AMES AND IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY
(AMES, IA, March 30, 2021) – The USA Track & Field (USATF) Masters Outdoor Championships return to Ames and Iowa State University on July 21-25, 2021, and will be hosted by Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau and will be held at Cyclone Sports Complex.
The USATF Masters Outdoor Championships is an annual track and field competition which serves as the national championship for the United States for athletes. Participating athlete age groups start at 25 and go up to 100 years.
“We are so happy to welcome back the USA Track & Field Masters Outdoor Championships to Ames and Iowa State University this July”, said Kevin Bourke, President/CEO, Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Having successfully hosted this championship in 2019, we know the economic impact to Ames and central Iowa will be significant. With almost 900 athletes from 48 states participating in the championships in Ames in 2019, we are hoping to exceed those numbers in 2021. After all the cancellations in 2020 due to COVID-19, this championship will be a great ‘shot in the arm’ for the local economy this summer.”
The USATF Masters Outdoor Championships is hosted in part and supported by the Iowa Association USATF. Jim Walczyk, Iowa Association USATF Operations Manager and Treasurer, will serve as the Masters Outdoor Championships Meet Director, serving alongside hundreds of officials, referees, and volunteers who ensure the success of the championships.
