TUBACHRISTMAS returns to Ames

A MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS concert will be held in Ames on Saturday, December 14 at Ames City Auditorium, 515 Clark Avenue. There is no admission charge for this hour-long festive, fun and family-friendly concert.

Michael Golemo, Director of Bands at Iowa State University and Director of the Ames Municipal Band, serves as the coordinator and conductor of the Ames TUBACHRISTMAS. According to Golemo, “This will be our tenth annual TUBACHRISTMAS. We’re expecting to have over 100 tuba players participate. In past years we held this event at the First United Methodist Church – with two performances. This event has grown so much that we are moving the event to Ames City Auditorium. There will be one performance at 11:00 am.”

Every TUBACHRISTMAS concert features traditional Christmas carols especially arranged for tubas and euphonium. The warm, rich, organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won the hearts of every audience. Golemo has arranged several new holiday favorites that will be performed on December 14. Audience sing-a-longs, “tuba humor” and decorated instruments are a big part of the TUBACHRISTMAS experience.

MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS concerts will be presented in over 300 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries, bringing together tuba and euphonium players of all ages.

If you play the tuba or euphonium and wish to participate in this concert, go to or contact Golemo at or 515-291-9341.
