Independence Day Holiday Closings

City Hall and most City departments and divisions will be closed on Friday, July 3, in recognition of Independence Day. Normal operating hours will resume on Monday, July 6.

The Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave., will be open for “grab and go” services in the front lobby from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 3, and closed on Saturday, July 4. For more information about the library’s hours and usage modifications, visit www.amespubliclibrary.org.

CyRide will operate a Saturday schedule on Friday, July 3, and will not operate on Saturday, July 4. For more information, visit www.cyride.com.

The Community Center will be closed on Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4.

Ames/ISU Ice Arena will be open for stick and helmet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 3, and closed on Saturday, July 4.

Municipal Pool will be open until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 3, for lap swim only, and closed on Saturday, July 4. Swimmers must sign up online to attend lap swim sessions. To sign up for lap swim sessions, go to www.amesparkrec.org and click on Facility Calendars link, then Lap Swim Sign Up link. The Furman Aquatic Center is closed for the 2020 summer season.

The Resource Recovery Plant, 110 Center Ave., will be accepting garbage from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3, but will be closed on Saturday, July 4. Resource Recovery administrative offices will be closed on both Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the community pancake breakfast hosted by the Ames Mayor and City Council, Fourth of July parade on Main Street, and fireworks have been cancelled.
