ISU Orchestra Youth Matinee

Thu / March 3, 2022
10:00 am – 11:00 am / Stephens Auditorium, ISU Campus

What were you doing at age 11? When he was that age, Samuel Vargas was the first violinist of a 400-member youth orchestra in Venezuela. Just a few years later, he’s now the first prize winner of the 2021 Sphinx Competition, the storied American showcase for Black and Latinx musicians.

On March 3, Vargas headlines Symphony of Diversity 2022, an orchestral celebration of music from composers around the world, performed by internationally known guest artists and the ISU Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Govias. Come early and stay late for pre- and post-performance events like the Samba band and the instrument petting zoo where you can see and touch the full range of orchestral instruments up close.
