The Telegraph String Quartet will present the first concert of the 2018-19 Ames Town & Gown chamber music season on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 7:30 pm. This concert, at First United Methodist Church (516 Kellogg Avenue, Ames.) will be co-sponsored with the Iowa State Center. The Telegraph Quartet, winners of two of the most prestigious chamber music awards — both the Naumburg and the Fischoff– will play works of Mozart, Erwin Schulhoff, and Dvorák. Just four weeks before this concert, on September 7, 2018, the quartet released its debut album, “Into the Light,” on the Centaur label.
In addition to their concert performance, the quartet will engage with the community in a number of educational outreach activities such as master classes and interactive presentations involving area public schools and other venues.
As always at Town & Gown concerts, the audience is invited to stay for a post-concert gathering to meet and greet the musicians.
