Requirements for Community Grant Recipients

Congratulations on being awarded one of this year’s Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grants! Per the application, please keep in mind the following requirements for your event:

Due to the spread of COVID-19, we recognize that many of the upcoming events scheduled for Ames have to be altered; canceled, perhaps, but hopefully postponed. For those who have been awarded a 2020 ACVB Community Grant and have yet to request any of the awarded funds, please be assured that if you need to reschedule your event in 2021 because of this year’s pandemic, your designated grant funds will be saved for you and you do not need to reapply for next year.

Also, if you need to reschedule your event for later this calendar year (2020), your funds are still safe, but we still ask you to communicate the new details to our office so we can update our calendars and help promote you and the event.

However, if you have requested and received a portion of your grant funds in advance of your event but are now rescheduling your event for 2021 or canceling your event completely, the rest of your money will be forfeited. You are not required to give back the funds you did receive, and you most certainly are encouraged to reapply for next year.

  • All marketing materials promoting the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau (Bureau) Community Grant event must include the Bureau’s logo, telephone number and website along with the verbiage “Supported by the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant Program” where appropriate.
  • All recipients must participate in the Bureau’s CYtes of Ames membership, marketing their event through the Bureau’s website and additional marketing materials.
  • A final report form must be completed within 60 days of completion of the event to receive the final grant payment. The 2020 Community Grant Final Report form can be downloaded HERE.

Failure to comply with the obligations of the Community Grant procedures will prohibit the organization from receiving a grant in the future. If you have any questions in your event planning process, please contact our Community Grant staff liaison Crystal Davis (515-232-4032).
