Iowa Geocachers Organization Receives 2017 Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant

Hike-n-Seek is an annual gathering of geocachers from Iowa and surrounding states. This year, Hike-n-Seek will be held at McFarland Park, in Ames on September 22-23. Geocaching is a geo-location hobby using handheld GPS devices. The event includes prizes and dinner. Grant funds will be used for event catering, prizes and printed materials. About the Ames Convention & Visitors Community Grant Program:

The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $80,150 in funding on behalf of their Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 24 special events and programs in the Ames area for 2017. Each grant was awarded according to its intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents. With this latest addition of grant recipients, the Bureau’s Community Grant Program has awarded more than $550,000 to help fund nearly 230 events and projects throughout the area since its establishment in 2007.
