Gamma Rho Lambda, Omicron Chapter Receives 2018 Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant

Pride Block Party is an event for the city of Ames and the surrounding counties to celebrate their pride. This event is intended for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies to be social while raising money for a good cause. The event, held at Prairie Moon Winery on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at 8:00pm, is free of charge. Members of Gamma Rho Lambda, Omicron Chapter, request that individuals donate money to The Trevor Project. Pride Block Party is open to all ages and the public is welcome and invited to attend.

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.

Gamma Rho Lambda, Omicron Chapter was charted in 2014 at Iowa State University. The multicultural LGBTQIA+ and all sorority focuses on diversity, unity, tolerance, and trust. Grant funds will be used for event facility and entertainment costs and enhancing marketing and promotion of the event.

About the Ames Convention & Visitors CYtes of Ames Community Grant Program:
The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $92,000 in funding on behalf of their Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 31 special events and programs in the Ames area for 2018. Each grant was awarded according to its intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents. With this latest addition of grant recipients, the Bureau’s Community Grant Program has awarded more than $630,000 to help fund nearly 254 events and projects throughout the area since its establishment in 2007.
