Campustown Action Association to host new event welcoming students to Campustown and Ames

The Campustown Action Association is pleased to announce a new event scheduled for Friday, August 24, 2018. First Friday in Campustown, which will be held from 4-8pm on the first Friday of the fall semester at ISU, aims to welcome new and returning students to Campustown and the Ames community.

The first portion of the event will encourage attendees to explore Campustown through a passport of deals. Participating businesses will offer special discounts, coupons or giveaways during the event. Once completed, passports are eligible for additional prizes. Passports can be picked up at Campustown Court, located at the corner of Welch & Chamberlain. CAA will be joined by representatives from Iowa State University, the City of Ames, and campus-adjacent neighborhood associations. Several community organizations will also be on hand. The overall goal of this event is to make students aware of the many resources and opportunities available to them as members of the Ames Community.

CAA strives to provide leadership for strengthening the role and reputation of Campustown by fostering cooperation among the City of Ames, Iowa State University and Campustown entities. The organization provides programming and events focused on showcasing the unique atmosphere and offerings of the district, while creating a welcoming environment for the entire community to enjoy.

The Campustown Action Association is an affiliate of the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
