Campustown Action Association Receives 2018 Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant

Summerfest in Campustown is the annual “open house” for the Campustown area. This one-day event on June 2 showcases to the Ames community the various businesses and activities that the Campustown District has to offer. Summerfest will include family friendly activities such as face painting, air brush tattoos, portraits, root beer garden and a petting zoo. Local food vendors, live music and a beer garden round out the offerings for Summerfest. Grant funds will be used for advertising, hiring paid activities and musicians. For more information, visit

About the Ames Convention & Visitors CYtes of Ames Community Grant Program:
The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $92,000 in funding on behalf of their Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 31 special events and programs in the Ames area for 2018. Each grant was awarded according to its intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents. With this latest addition of grant recipients, the Bureau’s Community Grant Program has awarded more than $630,000 to help fund nearly 254 events and projects throughout the area since its establishment in 2007.
