Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market Receives 2018 Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant

The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market showcases locally produced fruits and vegetables, cheese, meat, honey, eggs, fresh cut flowers, bedding plants, perennials, jams and jellies, baked goods, along with other handmade products crafted by local artisans. Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market also supplements the Market experience with live music, cooking contests and children’s activities. The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market’s goal is to help make Ames a destination place on Saturday mornings for families, students, young professionals, and retirees from Ames and surrounding communities.

The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market opens at 8am on Saturday, May 5, and is open every Saturday May through October. Funds will be used to offset marketing and advertising costs to reach new and potential visitors and vendors, as well as purchase needed tents and equipment. For more information, visit

About the Ames Convention & Visitors CYtes of Ames Community Grant Program:
The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $92,000 in funding on behalf of their Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 31 special events and programs in the Ames area for 2018. Each grant was awarded according to its intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents. With this latest addition of grant recipients, the Bureau’s Community Grant Program has awarded more than $630,000 to help fund nearly 254 events and projects throughout the area since its establishment in 2007.
