Ames Area Running Club Receives 2017 Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant

Run for the Roses is a 5K run/walk, 10K road race, and a kids run that is hosted by Alpha Omicron Pi and Ames Area Running Club. The Run for the Roses event features a post-race omelet breakfast, a rose for every runner, silent auction, door prizes, and organizers make a donation to a charitable organization. The races will be held at the Ames Middle School on October 8, with the race beginning at 9am. Funds from the grant will be used to advertise outside of Ames to increase event participation and add paid social media advertising. For more information, visit

About the Ames Convention & Visitors Community Grant Program:
The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded $80,150 in funding on behalf of their Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 24 special events and programs in the Ames area for 2017. Each grant was awarded according to its intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents. With this latest addition of grant recipients, the Bureau’s Community Grant Program has awarded more than $550,000 to help fund nearly 230 events and projects throughout the area since its establishment in 2007.
